Sterkspruit is a town in the Senqu Local Municipality in the Joe Gqabi District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The town is located about 45 km south-east of Zastron, 80 km north-east of Aliwal North, and 24 km from the Lesotho border. [2] It takes its name from the Sterkspruit, the watercourse on which it is situated.
It begins by heading southwards for 15 kilometres to the town of Sterkspruit. It then heads south-west for 38 kilometres to reach a junction with the R58 road. [1] The R392 joins the R58 and they are one road south-east for 26 kilometres, bypassing Lady Grey, before the R392 becomes its own road southwards.
The R30 is a provincial route in South Africa that connects Bloemfontein with Rustenburg via Brandfort, Welkom, Bothaville, Klerksdorp and Ventersdorp. [1] The southern part of the route is tolled, as the R30 forms the first section of the ZR Mahabane Toll Route, with the Brandfort Toll Plaza found 10 kilometres north of its southern terminus junction with the N1 national route.

From the Orange River crossing at Maletswai, the N6 goes north-north-east for 34 kilometres to the town of Rouxville, where it meets the southern terminus of the R26.It turns to the north-west and continues for 37 kilometres, crossing the Caledon River, to the town of Smithfield, where the R701 joins it in the southern suburbs before they split in the northern suburbs.
While the N1 is a toll road from Bloemfontein onwards, the N12 is toll-free for it's length. [1] From the Three Sisters split, the N12 makes a 170 km northwards journey, through Victoria West (where it meets the R63), to Britstown, where it passes through the town centre before meeting the N10 national route coming from De Aar.
The N8 joins the N1 highway northwards for 3 km up to the next off-ramp, where it meets the eastern terminus of the R64 (an alternative route from Kimberley). As the R64 is the road to the west, the N8 becomes the road to the east (Nelson Mandela Drive), bypassing the University of the Free State , into Bloemfontein Central .
