The Savannah Historic District is a large urban U.S. historic district that roughly corresponds to the pre–Civil War city limits of Savannah, Georgia.The area was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1966, [1] [3] and is one of the largest urban, community-wide historic preservation districts in the United States. The Savannah is a breed of hybrid cat developed in the late 20th century from crossing a serval (Leptailurus serval) with a domestic cat (Felis catus). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] This hybridization typically produces large and lean offspring, with the serval's characteristic large ears and markedly brown-spotted coats.
The total area is bounded to the north by the Savannah Historic District, to the west by a public housing project, to the south by a neighborhood of early- to mid-20th-century residences, and to the east by a mixed-use area of Seaboard Coast Line railroad tracks, industry, commerce, housing, and vacant lots.
