The AN/SLQ-32 is a shipboard electronic warfare suite built by the Raytheon Company of Goleta, California and The Hughes Aircraft Company. [1] It is currently the primary electronic warfare system in use by U.S. Navy ships. [2] Its operators commonly refer to it as the "Slick-32". [3]

Raytheon Intelligence & Space is the result of a merger between two former Raytheon Company businesses: Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) and Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS). The merger was finalized on the day that Raytheon Technologies was formed, on 3 April 2020.
The system is manufactured by Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems at its facility in Goleta, California. The ALE-50 system consists of a launcher and launch controller installed on the aircraft (usually on a wing pylon), and one or more expendable towed decoys. Each decoy is delivered in a sealed canister and has a ten-year shelf life. [2]
In August 1999, Raytheon was awarded an initial contract for full-rate production of the AN/ALR-67(V)3 for the U.S. Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, totalling 34 complete installations, together with 40 spare quadrant receivers and five countermeasures receivers [citation needed]. These were delivered during 2001–02.
The newer 1606 was leveraged into the Raytheon (Goleta) AN/SLQ-32 naval shipboard electronic warfare system for signal identification purposes and into units sold to Singer Librascope. The shorter-wavelength infrared detectors were developed by Raytheon in Goleta, California. Raytheon used indium antimonide and a doped silicon detector in the creation of the infrared detectors. These detectors are 100 times more sensitive than what was available at the beginning of the project during the 1980s. [ 22 ]
