The VIZIO ( notice the bright lit up logo on the front of the set? any S's in it ? ) TV's you guys have use IR remotes. I think the feature you are thinking of only pertains to devices that use RF remotes. ( some satellite receivers for instance. ) To put it simply, both TVs use the exact same remote and IR code set to function.
Vizio power on/off and multiple input discrete remote control codes work I can confirm that the vizio remote control discrete codes for power on, power off, hdmi 1 to 5, AV1 & 2, component 1 &2, all work on the 551. AV3 in the link below (function 163) is "cable" on the 551. Here is a link to the hexadecimal codes on remote central (scroll down ...
I have purchased the Vizio 37inch XVT series LCD. What a nice picture!! Blew my 5 year old Hitachi DLP away. I'll be spending a lot of time in the bedroom watching it. I have U Verse cable service and need a code for the VIZIO remote as I do not like the uverse remote. Any help for this model vizio as it appears the codes change from model to ...
Well after finding the remote on Sony's website I found that the codes were all 3 digit codes. So I started writing them down and most seemed to be common from tv model to tv model. I started at 100 and when I got to 103 it powered off the TV, oh joy!! it also ran the volume. So that is what I need it to do.
I have a Vizio VBR231 BLU-RAY DVD player and am trying to program my COX Universal Remote (used on a Motorola DCT6416 DVR) to work with it. The two DVD player codes (1064, 1226) listed in the remote's manual are useless and I cannot find any DVD codes on the Vizio WWWeb site.
Vizio TVs use the IR code of several well known brands, my Vizio has similar codes as my Sony HDTV, luckily they are in separate rooms. I've never had luck with polarizing filters but do use IR blockers or semi-blockers to use several Panasonic DVDRs in the same area.
One of my friends mentioned using a polarized lens over them and control each one individually. Another option could be to use the RS232 ports on the back with a higher end remote system but I dont know jack about any of that. The third option would to be to purchase another TV, scrap the Vizio on craigslist and go from there.
But LG TVs with the LG Magic remote can be programmed under settings to control the Vizio sound bar. My S4251 soundbar can be powered on and controlled via the magic remote, the newer smartcast soundbar has to be turned on by the vizio remote but can then be controlled via the LG Magic Remote. This is with my setup via optical connection.
PRESS: the "Gear" key on the remote + 4 + 2 + 1 + 0 That should do it -- if not press the "BACK" key afterwards. I tried it while watching over-the-air TV channels, and doing so brought up the Service Menu. Hope this helps others.
