The location is near the present-day Arizona Portland Cement Plant in the Town of Marana. In 1775, Juan Bautista de Anza, Captain of the Presidio of Tubac, led an expedition north along the Santa Cruz River to find the city of San Francisco. His group of about 200 included 30 soldiers and their families and a number of escorts.
Historic Old Phoenix City Hall built in 1928 and located at 17 S. Second Avenue. This structure served as the Phoenix's City Hall until 1994 when the a new building was completed to serve as such. The first design Michael Goodwin proposed was a large concrete building, similar to Boston City Hall. The city council rejected his design. The next was a structure that terraced down the slope of Tempe Butte. The council also rejected this design. Goodwin then came up with the idea of an inverted pyramid while in the shower.

Sonoita Creek contains black bullhead, red shiner, mosquitofish, crayfish, American bullfrogs, largemouth bass, Gila topminnows, speckled dace, longfin dace, Sonora suckers, and desert suckers. [ 4 ] The New Mexico and Arizona Railroad paralleled the Sonoita Creek for a portion of the railroad's route.
