As of 2024 [update] , the entire I-69 project in Arkansas is mostly on hold (except for a small piece near Monticello, Arkansas ) as well as the extending Mississippi section being on hold due to lack of funding.

The bridge is about 160 feet (49 m) long. The bridge was built 1938–41 with funding from the Works Progress Administration. Fill surrounding the abutments was washed away in 1945 and subsequently replaced. The bridge deck was replaced in 1977. [2] The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995. In 1992, Union Pacific removed the bridge from service, and donated it and a 73-mile right-of-way to the State of Arkansas. This enabled the creation of the Delta Heritage Trail .
