Hockley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 21,537. [1] Its county seat is Levelland. Ropesville is located on the high plains of the Llano Estacado at (33.4134229, –102.1543406), [4] in the southeastern corner of Hockley County U.S. Routes 62 and 82 pass together through the northwestern side of the city, leading northeast 21 miles (34 km) to Lubbock and southwest 18 miles (29 km) to Brownfield.
