West Columbia is located in western Brazoria County at (29.141513, –95.647016), [5] about 2 miles (3 km) west of the Brazos Texas State Highway 35 leads east 13 miles (21 km) to Angleton, the county seat, and southwest 23 miles (37 km) to Bay City.
The site is located on Farm to Market Road 2852 off State Highway 35, two miles north of West Columbia. The site is near 66 acres (27 ha) in size. Varner Creek runs through the property. [2] An 1835-era farmhouse, refurbished by Miss Ima, is located on the site. The house and other buildings represent antebellum Texas plantation life.
This is the location of Bell's Landing on the Brazos River, where East Columbia was founded. The community was founded in 1824 by Josiah Hughes Bell.A native of South Carolina, Bell came to Texas with Stephen F. Austin's Old 300 colony in 1821.
