The Brotherhood of Mutants (originally known as the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, sometimes referred to as the BoEM[ 2 ] or B.O.E.M.[ 3 ]) is a fictional group of mutants appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The Brotherhood are among the chief adversaries of the X-Men.
Uncanny X-Men, originally published as The X-Men, is an American comic book series published by Marvel Comics since 1963, and is the longest-running series in the X-Men comics franchise.
The original version first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #199 (November 1985) and was created by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr. [ 1 ] Freedom Force was a supervillain team, though they occasionally acted in a heroic capacity as well. It was a government-sponsored team composed mainly of Mystique 's version of Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
