That can cause random disconnects, spontaneous re-booting of the modem, speed, packet loss, latency problems, and the un-bonding of channels. In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity / more wiggle room, check to see if there are any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured.
Change modem reboot time. My Xfinity modem (Arris TG1682G) reboots every morning at approximately 3:45am. Since it's the same time EVERY morning I assume it's a scheduled event. I've checked the Xfinity internet app and the Gateway login (10.0.0.1) and found no settings for daily reboot. My morning schedule is put on pause for 10 minutes EVERY ...
However, every few days, my download slows to 20-30, but my upload remains the same (40 up). If I reboot the modem, all is back to normal...for another 2-3 days. This is not an issue of the router behind it (I use it for port forwarding, etc) as if I remove it, the same issue occurs. I contact support, they reboot the modem as step 1, and of ...
No. They can't cold boot/power cycle remotely. That function does not exist in the hardware. For that, you'd need a switched PDU (switched power distribution unit). After a modem reboot of the Motorola MB7621 it will speed up to 400 or 500 mbps but then after 15 or 20 mins it will drop back down to 50 mbps or less. I have placed a call to support twice and both times they said everything looks fine from their side. I am plugged directly into the cable coming into the unit - took the splitter out.
This is occurring around every 5 - 30mins. To my knowledge, nothing has changed. I have attempted the following, with no success: Checked for outages. Rebooted the modem. Swapped out the power cable for the modem. Swapped out the coax cable between the wall port and the modem. Factory reset the modem. Tried connecting to another coax wall port ...
