Wigle Whiskey (pronounced "wih-gul" [1]) is an artisan small batch whiskey distillery in the Strip District neighborhood of Pittsburgh.Wigle's whiskeys are the flagship products of the company, which was entirely family owned and operated until 2022, when the company and its sister company Threadbare Cider and Mead was purchased by the Nutting Corporation.
The town is home to a large industrial park that is situated near the Allegheny River. It also contains many abandoned buildings that were formerly part of whiskey producer Schenley Distillery. One of the main businesses in the community is the Kiski Junction Railroad, which provides freight service and offers rides to tourists.
Prohibition in the United States closed the distillery, and shortly afterwards the entire Gibson plant and its contents were auctioned off. As prohibition was ending, Schenley Industries purchased the Gibson's brand and in 1945, a Schenley subsidiary called Schenley Distillers Corporation established a distillery in Valleyfield, Quebec .
