Jul 17, 2011. #1. Brethren, I was curious to see how many Texas Masons are willing to sport the Scottish National Dress. I'm purchasing my first kilt next week, but I realize that showing up to Lodge in it might raise a few eyebrows. This also seems like a good time to share an anecdote about a good friend and brother.
I've recently visited a Lodge under the supervision of the Grand Lodge of Scotland for their annual open day. The Worshipful Master was wearing a kilt. Is that something that happens in every Lodge within the Grand Lodge of Scotland of just a personal choice for the annual event?

In my jurisdiction in the US, the Grand Lodge of Maine, tuxes are universally worn by officers during degree work or installations and mostly worn by officers during stated meetings though a business suit is sometimes worn for stated meetings by officers and always by those on the sidelines. 33rds in Scottish Rite wear white tie and tails, others, black tie and dinner jacket.
