The company I retired from was founded in 1890 and for the 75th anniversary in 1965 gave each employee an 1890 Silver Dollar. Coins I've seen have been P or O.
July 25, 2008 10:40AM. I can remember when I was a little guy in the late 50's my dad bought a $1000 dollar bag of Morgans. We opened them on the carpet and sorted them out. They were all circ. and there were no rare dates in the bag.

Counterfiet Morgan Dollars are as thick as fleas. If you think that there might be any more CC in that roll, think again. There are 20 silver dollars in a roll which puts you per coin price at $77.50. The lowest price for a CC dollar on the Gray Sheet at the lowest grade, VG, is $108.

I over-struck this one a couple years ago (2014 Moonlight Mint Open House), just now got around to photographing it. This is the only such piece I ever attempted to overstrike. And it is the only one that split like this. The inside is a different color and looks like it is made out of fiberboard (it is "metal", though). Moonlight Mint. « 1 2 ».

July 26, 2019 5:25PM. If it came from the GSA, it's probably original. Most Carson bags were made in Philadelphia, and printed in Carson. Local variation is to be expected. Re-bagged coins wold have been put into plain bags with denomination and value, and possibly a Treasury logo or title.
November 3, 2021 5:09PM. Maybe a lot of these will end up in the melting pot like many classic Morgans did after the Pittman Act. It looks like they are making it like old time sake: poor quality control, bag marks, and perhaps a great melt.
Just got a notification regarding the currently being released New York Bank Hoard of Morgan Silver Dollars. They are already specifying the dates and quantities. Should be a much easier task this time around. FWIW sounds like these are going to be even better preserved than prior hoards.
