The McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD) is a conservation district located in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. MCCD was founded in 1971 and manages and maintains approximately 25,000 acres [1] of land throughout the county. This includes parks, conservation areas, campgrounds, bicycle trails, hiking trails, and horse trails. [2]

McHenry is located 46 miles northwest of Chicago in northeastern Illinois on the Fox River. According to the 2020 census, McHenry has a total area of 14.50 square miles (37.55 km 2) [22] McHenry lies within the Fox River Valley, and its downtown area is situated on that river. "The Heart of the Fox River" is the city's motto.

Lions Park, on the Fox River, provides scenic views of Cary. This waterside park is the site of Lions Fest, a yearly September festival in which Fox River Grove residents gather to converse and eat roasted corn. The lesser-known Arts & Crafts Fair is also hosted at Lions Park each July. [40] In 2019, the village celebrated its centennial.
Oak Park Township is one of 29 townships in Cook County, Illinois and its boundaries are coterminous with the village of Oak Park. [2] As of the 2020 census, the population was 54,583. [ 3 ]
