The hadith reported by Abu Hurairah are diverse, being used by Islamic scholars specializing in hadith, 'aqīdah, fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), ijtihād, tafsīr (Quranic exegesis), and Islamic eschatology. In his Kitab al-Iman, a book on 'aqīdah, Ibn Taymiyyah (d. 1328) uses hadith narrations from Abu Hurairah to study tawḥīd.
According to Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Hammam ibn Munabbih was a disciple of Abu Hurairah. Abu Hurairah is the authority from whom he relates the narrations comprising the sahifah in their isnads (chains of narration), noting "this is what Abū Ḥurayra told us, on the authority of Muhammad the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him". Hammam was one of the 9 students of Abu Hurairah. Abu Hurairah used to narrate the hadith he heard from the Prophet to his nine students. Of all nine, only the Sahifah Hammam ibn Munabbih, composed by Hammam, is quoted by extant sources although it has not survived.
A hadith attributes Ibn Abi Rafi' as saying: Abu Hurairah led us in the Friday prayer and recited Surah Al-Jumua and "When the hypocrites come to you" (Al-Munafiqun) in the last rak'ah. He said: I met Abu Hurairah when he finished the prayer and said to him: You recited the two surah that Ali ibn Abi Talib used to recite at Kufa.

Ibn al-Hajjaj narrates this hadith in the chapter: "The merits of the people of Persia": Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "If the din were at the Pleiades, even then a person from Persia would have taken hold of it, or one amongst the Persian descent would have surely found it".
