Xidan Culture Square. Xidan (Chinese: 西 单; Pinyin: Xīdān) is a major traditional commercial area in Beijing, China. [1] It is located in the Xicheng District. [2]The Xidan commercial district incorporates the Xidan Culture Square, North Xidan Street, as well as many supermarkets and department stores.
The Xidan commercial district, Beijing Financial Street, Beihai Park, Jingshan Park, Shichahai, and Zhongnanhai are all within its jurisdiction. The popular Houhai bar area is also in Xicheng Precinct. Before the 1911 Revolution, most royalty and aristocrats resided in the precinct.
Xidan Station (simplified Chinese: 西单站; traditional Chinese: 西單站; pinyin: Xīdān Zhàn) is a station on Line 1 and Line 4 of the Beijing Subway located in the Xidan commercial district. [1] The station on average has 60,000 entrances and exits per day. [2]
The Xidan commercial area is in the neighbourhood of the street, flanked by other more modern buildings, such as the Beijing Times Square. The impressive building of the Bank of China also sits on this street, together with the People's Bank of China. Line 1 of the Beijing subway runs along this route.
The line passes through Xidan, Wangfujing and Dongdan, among other important commercial centers of Xicheng and Dongcheng Districts, as well as the Beijing CBD near the China World Trade Center. The line is 31.04 km (19.29 mi) [6] in length with 23 stations in operation. All stations except for Sihui and Sihuidong are underground.
