The ideal pixel density (PPI) depends on the output format, output device, the intended use and artistic choice. For inkjet printers measured in DPI it is generally good practice to use half or less than the DPI to determine the PPI. For example, an image intended for a printer capable of 600 dpi could be created at 300 ppi.
If it is labelled as 250 PPI, that is an instruction to the printer to print it at a size of 4 × 4 inches. Changing the PPI to 100 in an image editing program would tell the printer to print it at a size of 10 × 10 inches. However, changing the PPI value would not change the size of the image in pixels which would still be 1,000 × 1,000.
A plan position indicator (PPI) is a type of radar display that represents the radar antenna in the center of the display, with the distance from it and height above ground drawn as concentric circles. As the radar antenna rotates, a radial trace on the PPI sweeps in unison with it about the center point. It is the most common type of radar ...
Differing image and pixel aspect ratios Miscellanea such as Kell factor or interlaced video The exact difference between horizontal and diagonal dot pitch varies with the design of the monitor (see pixel geometry and widescreen ), but a typical entry-level 0.28 mm (diagonal) monitor has a horizontal pitch of 0.24 or 0.25 mm, and a good quality ...
A raster image is technically characterized by the width and height of the image in pixels and by the number of bits per pixel. [1] Raster images are stored in image files with varying dissemination, production, generation, and acquisition formats. The printing and prepress industries know raster graphics as contones (from continuous tones).
Colour fringes that worsen the further the image point is from the optical axis. [7] [12] TIFF: Tag Image File Format. A high fidelity computer file format for handling digital images that does not sacrifice colour and form detail in the way that 'lossy' compression formats such as GIF, JPEG and PNG do. [8] TLR: Twin-lens reflex. A camera with ...

This image shows a modern PPI display in use, with the islands and ground surrounding the ship in green. The current direction of the radar can be seen as the dotted line pointing northwest. The PPI display provides a 2-D "all round" display of the airspace around a radar site. The distance out from the center of the display indicates range ...
