The Arts & College Preparatory Academy, or ACPA, is a tuition-free, public, charter high school located on the east side of Columbus, Ohio, United States, serving students in grades 7–12. It was founded in 2002. It is a model charter school combining academics and interdisciplinary arts instruction.
A 2007 study by U.S. News & World Report ranked the high school branch of Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center amongst the top high schools in the United States. [3] The school was one of the 405 high schools to win a silver medal, ranking it below the 100 schools that won a gold medal and above the 1,086 schools that won a bronze medal.
CCAD was founded in 1879 as the Columbus Art School. The idea for the school started in 1878, when a group of women formed the Columbus Art Association. Their main concern became creating an art school in Columbus. The first day of classes was January 6, 1879, on the top floor of the Sessions Building at Long and High.
