The General Post Office (GPO; Irish: Ard-Oifig an Phoist) is the former headquarters of An Post — the Irish Post Office. It remains its registered office and the principal post office of Dublin [1] — the capital city of Ireland — and is situated in the centre of O'Connell Street, the city's main thoroughfare.
O'Connell Street is located on the north side of Dublin city, and runs northwards from O'Connell Bridge towards Parnell Square.The street is approximately 1,980 feet (600 m) long and 150 feet (46 m) wide, with two broad carriageways at either side of a central pathway occupied by various monuments and statues.
