The hotel began in 1935 as the King and Prince Beach Club, a seaside dance club built by Morgan T. Wynne and Franklin J. Horne. It was noted for its big band entertainment and dancing. After two fires, the club was rebuilt and opened on July 2, 1941, as the King and Prince Hotel.
Naval Air Station Glynco, Georgia, was an operational naval air station from 1942 to 1974 with an FAA airfield identifier of NEA and an ICAO identifier of KNEA. Now known as Brunswick Golden Isles Airport ( IATA : BQK, ICAO : KBQK), it was previously known as Glynco Jetport following NAS Glynco's closure.
The 1990s saw a rebirth of the hotel. In 1991, the hotel was converted into a luxury apartment building, and a new 19-story wing complete with a rooftop pool was built to resemble the original 10-story Beaux-Arts-style hotel. In 1997, the apartments were vacated, and the property reopened as a luxury hotel.
