The Chicago Cubs farm system consists of seven Minor League Baseball affiliates across the United States and in the Dominican Republic.Four teams are independently owned, while three—the Arizona Complex League Cubs and two Dominican Summer League Cubs squads—are owned by the major league club.
Of these, 120 teams in 11 leagues (from Triple-A to Single-A) are each affiliated with one MLB team through a standardized professional development license. Additionally, three leagues consisting of a total of 85 Rookie teams are located at MLB spring training complexes in Arizona and Florida, as well as in the Dominican Republic. [1]
The team, which plays in the Southern League, is the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The team was based in Kodak, Tennessee, a Knoxville suburb, from 2000 to 2024 as the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Stadium. The team will move into the new Covenant Health Park in Knoxville in 2025.
