John Robert Bell (1862 – 25 August 1924) was a British trade unionist and political activist. Born in County Durham, Bell grew up in South Shields. He became a sailor at an early age, and travelled widely. [1] He lived in the United States for many years, where he worked as an official with the International Seamen's Union. [2]

Gateshead United Football Club was a football club based in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. The club was established in South Shields in 1936 as a replacement for the club that had relocated to Gateshead in 1930. Like their predecessor, the club was relocated to Gateshead in 1974 after the former club went bust.
