South Kitsap School District No. 402 is the second largest public school district in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. It serves the city of Port Orchard, a portion of the city of Bremerton and the southern area of the county (360 square miles). The district is the largest employer in Port Orchard. [2]
South Kitsap High School was built in 1921. An addition was built in 1962, with modernization projects in 1978 and 1980. The 337,392 square foot (31,300 m²) building is located on a 51.46 acre site.

The school is on a 27 acres (11 ha) parcel. [2] Prior to 2014 the school serving the Suquamish people was operated by the North Kitsap School District. In August 2014 the tribe signed a compact with the State of Washington to directly operate the school, with the state providing funding, the first instance of such in the state.
