Walther Theological Seminary is an institution of theological higher education in Decatur, Illinois, United States, that provides preparation of pastors for the congregations and missions of the United Lutheran Mission Association (ULMA) and other confessional Lutheran churches.
The school was founded as a summer school in 1920. In 1921, it became a year-round school. In 2025, headed by Principal John Murphy, Pilgrim's enrollment averages about 160 students. The school is fully accredited by the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association and has earned recognition by the Illinois State Board of Education.

The Northern Illinois District includes approximately 226 congregations and missions, subdivided into 28 circuits, as well as 54 preschools, 67 elementary schools, and 9 high schools. The district has approximately 127,000baptized members. [1] The Northern Illinois District was formed in 1907 when the Illinois District was divided.
The organization later became the Pilgrim Holiness Church in 1922, the majority of which merged with the Wesleyan Methodists in 1968 to form the Wesleyan Church. In 1937, the Emmanuel Association was formed as a result of a schism with the Pilgrim Holiness Church; it became one of the first denominations of the conservative holiness movement. [2]
