Charlotte Independence is an American soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina that plays in the USL League One, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. The Independence currently play their home games at American Legion Memorial Stadium in the Elizabeth neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina .
The tribe, based in Rock Hill, S.C., has operated a single-level “temporary” casino at the site since 2021, off Interstate 85 exit 5 about 35 miles west of Charlotte.
The Independence finished the 2017 season with a record of 13–9–10, finished 5th in the Eastern Conference, and 11th overall. In the 2017 USL Playoffs , Charlotte were bested in the first round by the Rochester Rhinos .
