Since December 2014, the first trains passing Vienna's new main station, ICE services from Germany, terminate at the airport. Since December 2015, ÖBB Railjet services operate to the airport as well. Long-distance train rides between the airport and the main station take approx. 15 minutes.
The ticket from/to Vienna city center by suburban or long-distance trains costs €4,30 one-way (compared to €11 for the City Airport Train, as of May 2022) or €8,60 return (€19 for the CAT). The journey on the S7 takes 23 minutes between the airport and Wien Mitte station.
Many airports are known primarily by their codes, for example CDG in Paris and JFK in New York – named for 20th-century leaders Charles de Gaulle and John Fitzgerald Kennedy respectively.
