Urdu literature (Urdu: ادبیاتِ اُردُو, “Adbiyāt-i Urdū”) comprises the literary works, written in the Urdu language.While it tends to be dominated by poetry, especially the verse forms of the ghazal (غزل) and nazm (نظم), it has expanded into other styles of writing, including that of the short story, or afsana (افسانہ).

He served on the Nawab of Awadh's advisory board on language matters for many years. He spoke many languages including Urdu, Greek, and English.
Abdul Hameed (Urdu: اے۔ حمید-; 22 Dec 1924 – 29 April 2011) was an Urdu fiction writer from Pakistan. He was also known for writing a popular children's TV play Ainak Wala Jin (1993) for Pakistan Television Corporation which was broadcast on PTV during the mid-1990s.
He started his career by writing short stories for children and then wrote his first novel in 1973. He is the author of the highest number of novels (his 773rd novel is published by Atlantis Publications in April 2011) by any author in any language throughout the world.
