    I have seen others play in league for BCA and APA at my home room with a Carom Cue and they do quite well. I really do not see any real difference that would make it harder for someone shooting with a Carom Cue. I myself use a pocket billiard cue that is around 17.5 ounces and has a Z-Shaft, which is a conical taper and smaller tip. Good Luck! Lesh

    Carom Cues are lighter (around 17 oz.) with a conical taper for a stiffer spine (less deflection). The butt taper is fatter in the back so when you put the cue together and view it in profile the taper looks constant through the joint area into the shaft.

    One thing I'd like to mention is that It will definitely be hard to replicate the speed and rails of a real carom table, especially with the corner pockets where the CB and OB often travel and come off of. While It may be good in a pinch, it is hard to play serious carom with that equipment.

    So then I'll assume that there isn't much difference between pool and carom as far as tip choice goes.. I played 3-cushion with my pool cue and had a chunk of my kamui to break off the side so I was questioning layered tips for carom but I admittedly have an affinity for stroke and draw shots that require me to hit the ball with excessive force.
