The Interstellar 4K blu-ray is on sale now at Amazon for $14.96. You get a digital copy and you can sell the Blu-ray. Unable to see iTunes price as I had redeemed a digital copy earlier on Movies Anywhere (which show in iTunes). And in contrast to some other 4k movies redeemed in 4K on Movies Anywhere it plays in 4K on iTunes.
Are you talking about Smart HDR? Smart HDR is referring to the camera & video. Like the new iPhone Xs and Xr, the new iPad Pro & cameras can shoot smart HDR which unlike regular HDR with only 2 layers of underexposed and overexposed, layers multiple different exposures to get even more accurate photos & video where there are no blown out areas and there is more detail in shadows.
UPDATE 1st Dec 2020: I have upgraded to a 1000nit HDR TV and UHD discs look jaw dropping with HDR enabled. After taking an 18 month sebatical from blurays and watching iTunes movies instead, I now have an UHD player. It's an Xbox Series X.! 😎 I have bought a few UHD movies to compare against...
Just got the Apple TV 4k and hooked it up to my Samsung new oled65c7p. I notice in many of the netflix's 4k shows there is a lot of what looks like film grain/noise. Some shows are not as bad. I tried several 4k UHD youtube videos on the built in 4k youtube app on the tv and no grain at all (and was blown away).
Many movies in 4K hdr can be rent in iTunes Store now. But I couldn’t see 4K hdr and Dolby vision on my MacBook Pro 2016.
So far it looks to be 1080p HDR/Dolby Vision on the iPad Pro 10.5. Would be interested to hear if the 12.9 gets full 4K. I’d be even more interested to hear if the 10.5 could get 4K and scale down rather than 1080 and scale up.
I agree. Studios are very strict with 4K versions of their films. Considering how easy it is to remove copy protection from iTunes movie files, I'm sure the studios demanded that Apple prevent 4K downloads. So it seems that we can only download 1080p HDR movies to compatible iOS devices and its uncertain whether the 1080p downloads on Mac will ...
XDR settings - but those should be irrelevant as Quicktime does show HDR content properly. View attachment 1689710 I'm trying on macOS 11.0.1 (Big Sur). So the question: Is there any media player that's - reasonably priced - outputs HDR properly - can read all the relevant file formats (including mp4, mkv, etc.) Bonus: - able to find and ...
When I watch anything that is streamed in 4K HDR (ie various movies on Prime Video) it will switch to HDR (on my LG 4K OLED set) and the content will be displayed in 4K HDR. When I watch anything that is streamed in 1080P (ie Network news shows and various HBO movies on my YouTube TV app) the content will be upscaled to 4K and will be displayed ...
The HDR option does not show on the settings menu of iOS 11 on my iPad Pro 9.7”. Movies summary page shows 4k and HDR... I downloaded one of the movies but I’m not sure that HDR is playable on the A10X... anyone tried on their first gen iPad Pro?
