The Point Pleasant Canal is a canal in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. It was completed in 1925 to connect the Manasquan Inlet and Manasquan River with Bay Head Harbor on the northern end of Barnegat Bay. The canal is part of the Intracoastal Waterway. With the completion of the canal, the Barnegat Peninsula effectively became an island.
It offers a boat launch, fishing, and a nature trail. Canoes, kayaks, tubes, and rafts can be rented three miles north in Point Pleasant . The surrounding park includes a portion of the D&R Canal Trail , a multi-use trail built on the former Belvidere-Delaware Railroad bed that runs along the island on a north–south route.
The Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk is located about seven miles (11 km) north of the Seaside Heights boardwalk.
