I contacted them by phone and chat. Person on the phone was quite vague and did not seem to have much idea about this. Told me to hold and promptly got disconnected. Person on chat seemed to be quite sure that the calculated GPA was supposed to be unweighted GPA. Said that GPA would not match the GPA at: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply ...
I am a resident in Southern California as a Junior in highschool graduated in 2019. My current GPA right not is 2.5 unweighted and 2.65 weighted( I slacked off freshman year and I regret it). Anyways going back to my question is it unweighted or weighted GPA? Thank you so much I am very nervous.
On the general UC web site, the GPA listed is typically the capped weighted GPA, such as on these tables: The freshman profiles on the general UC web site also show the capped weighted GPA. For example here is UCLA’s profile (it looks like year 2019 is listed on this page), showing the middle range as 4.18 - 4.32.
The UC’s actually will calculate out 3 UC GPA’s. UC’s only use 10-11th grades from the a-g course requirements for the calculation. Unweighted with no extra honors points maximum 4.0. Capped weighted with 8 semesters of honors points maximum 4.4. Uncapped weighted with unlimited semesters of honors points maximum 5.0.
For C12: if the average GPA is above a 4.0, then you assume it is weighted. Depending upon the school, some do list how they arrive at their weighted GPA (examples: Cal States and UC’s in California). I called a university and asked the admissions office if their CDS listing was unweighted or weighted.
Some students with higher unweighted gpa but lower weighted gpas were not admitted in favor of those with higher weighted gpas. Other factors are scored by the app readers as well. The highest scores received are "1"s in this scoring system.

It goes without saying that this document is full of valuable info for anyone applying.
SC UGP calculates all of them together. And that 6 years of math starts from Alg1, Geo, Alg2, Alg3 Pre-Cal, AP Cal AB. Actually, we are in SC and the weighted GPA is on a 6.0 scale. A 100 in a regular class is a 5.0, a 100 in a Honors class is a 5.5 and a 100 in an AP class is a 6.0.
The Capped weighted UC GPA admit range for 2024 Freshman overall was 3.66-4.15. Using the Capped Weighted UC GPA, the overall campus admit rate for applicants with a 3.30-3.69 was 55%. For Business admin and Business related majors the admitted GPA range was 3.68-4.13 with a 72% admit rate. UC Irvine:
Im currently a junior in California high school and have 3.5 unweighted gpa / 4.2 weighted gpa. My UC gpa (capped) was 4.02. I want to major in psych or business at UCI or UCSD but I’m concerned about my unweighted gpa because it’s pretty low. My gpa dropped because of some family issues during the first semester of my junior year.
ProfessorPlum168 June 7, 2019, 9:43am 5. First of all, the “lowering UC capped GPA” phenomenon only goes into effect if you’re a 4.00 GPA unweighted student, or darn close. The drop is minimal, about .01 for every regular class that you take. Otherwise, taking more classes, assuming you get As, can only help from a GPA standpoint, as well ...
