The Online College is part of The Sheffield College in South Yorkshire, England. It runs a number of courses that are delivered online ranging from basic English and numeracy skills to Foundation Degrees leading to BA Hons Degrees in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University .
The college is the sole provider of post-16 education in the north of Sheffield, following the abolition of traditional sixth-forms in 1988 [5] by the tertiary system. The current college was founded in 1992, following the merger of six different tertiary colleges, namely: Castle, Loxley, Norton, Parkwood, Parson Cross and Stradbroke.
The course dates, fees, course format (e.g. face-to-face learning, distance learning) are determined by each centre. The exact nature of each course will vary from centre to centre, [13] but all courses will cover the same content points, as set out in the Delta syllabus developed by Cambridge English Language Assessment.
