Arabinogalactan, also known as galactoarabinan, larch arabinogalactan, and larch gum, is a biopolymer consisting of arabinose and galactose monosaccharides. Two classes of arabinogalactans are found in nature: plant arabinogalactan and microbial arabinogalactan. In plants, it is a major component of many gums, including gum arabic and gum ghatti.
Arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) are highly glycosylated proteins (glycoproteins) found in the cell walls of plants. Each one consists of a protein with sugar molecules attached (which can account for more than 90% of the total mass). They are members of the wider class of hydroxyproline (Hyp)-rich cell wall glycoproteins, a large and diverse ...
Arabinogalactan endo-β-1,4-galactanase (EC 3.2.1.89, endo-1,4-β-galactanase, galactanase, arabinogalactanase, ganB (gene)) is an enzyme with systematic name ...
Arabinogalactan is a biopolymer consisting of arabinose and galactose monosaccharides. It is a major component of many plant gums, including gum arabic. 8-5' Noncyclic diferulic acid has been identified as covalently linked to carbohydrate moieties of the arabinogalactan-protein fraction. [23]
Arabinose. An arabinosyltransferase is a transferase enzyme acting upon arabinose. [1] This enzyme is involved in polymerisation of arabinogalactan (an essential component of the mycobacterial cell wall).
Larch has also been used in herbal medicine; see Bach flower remedies and Arabinogalactan for details. Often, in Eurasian shamanism, the "world tree" is depicted as specifically a larch tree. [25] Planted on borders with birch, both tree species were used in pagan cremations. [citation needed]

Arabinogalactan makes up to 17% of dry weight of green coffee beans, with a molecular weight of 90 kDa to 200 kDa. It is composed of beta-1-3-linked galactan main chains, with frequent members of arabinose (pentose) and galactose (hexose) residues at the side chains comprising immunomodulating properties by stimulating the cellular defense ...
