West Lake Hills (locally referred to as "Westlake" [5]) is a city in Travis County, Texas, United States.The population was 3,444 at the 2020 census.The city was established and incorporated in 1953 and developed rapidly in the 1970s and 1980s, especially on the south side of the Colorado River.

Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve consists of 227 acres (919,000 m 2) of native Texas Hill Country habitat west of Austin, Texas in West Lake Hills.The preserve was founded in 1974 by seven women who were members of an environmentalist group called Now or Never, and it was Austin's first nature preserve.
