The Third Legislative Assembly of Telangana was constituted after the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly elections which were concluded on 5 December 2023. Polling took place on 30 November 2023. The majority needed to form the government is 60 seats in the assembly of 119 MLAs.

Telangana legislative assembly came into existence with 119 seats in June 2014 with the formation of Telangana. TRS swept the first election and formed the government with INC and TDP as opposition parties. In the 2018 elections, TRS won with a greater majority. There was one nominated member from the Anglo-India community till 2023.
In the 2023 Telangana Legislative Assembly election, the Congress won the state for the first time. It rode on a wave of anti-incumbency and rural dissatisfaction. PCC Chief Revanth Reddy was widely credited for the win. [13] In the 2024 Indian general election, the Congress won the 8 seats with largest 40.10% vote share [14]
