The commission for the first time suggested the creation of the Faculty of Science and Technology in addition to the faculties of Arts, Law, Medicine and Civil Engineering previously offered by Calcutta University. Thus Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) courses were introduced for first time in India.
