The existing herd of Asian elephants was relocated to a new 2,200 acres (9 km 2) habitat to accommodate eight incoming elephants who needed to be quarantined in 2005. Radnor Lake State Natural Area, also known as Radnor Lake State Park, is a popular state natural area and state park in Oak Hill, Tennessee within Nashville. The 1,368 acres (5.54 km 2) nature preserve lies just outside Nashville. Five miles of unpaved trails wander through the woods surrounding the lake.
The park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) between 1934 and 1942 on about 12,000 acres (49 km 2) of land donated to the State of Tennessee in 1933 by the Stearns Coal and Lumber Company. CCC crews built hiking trails, a recreation lodge, a ranger station, five rustic cabins, and a 12-acre (4.9 ha) lake known as Arch Lake.
