The company came into existence in 1995 [ citation needed ] when a group of investors purchased Atlanta -based frozen pie manufacturer Edwards Baking Co. and Chicago -based Tripp Bakers and merged the two to form a new national company.
Los Angeles opened its main airport on October 1, 1928. At the time of the opening, it was known as Mines Field and was little more than a dirt airstrip with no facilities.
