The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is the board of supervisors governing Santa Clara County, California. It is made of elected representatives from each of the county's five districts. [ 1 ] As a result of the 2022 elections , members of the Democratic Party hold all seats on the board though it is officially nonpartisan.

After Santa Clara County was formed on April 25, 1851, a contest was held to select a design for a new building worthy of being a state capitol in 1860. The winning entry, designed by Levi Goodrich, was constructed from 1866 to 1868 at a cost of US$173,737.96 (equivalent to $3,980,000 in 2023). [2] The courthouse was destroyed by fire in May 1931.
In 1922, the council changed its name to Santa Clara County Council, and took over administration for all of Santa Clara County. The council was incorporated in 1923, and oversight of San Benito County was added the same year. Monterey and Santa Cruz counties were added in 1927.
The district includes the campus of Santa Clara University and the corporate headquarters of several Silicon Valley companies, such as Apple Inc, Intel Corp., and Yahoo. From 2003 to 2013, the district covered all of Monterey and San Benito counties, as well as part of Santa Cruz County.
