It was formally constituted as independent entity in 2017, after the administrative reorganization of the district carried out by the Ayuntamiento de Madrid .
It is formed by the Plenary (Pleno), the Mayor (alcalde) and the Government Board (Junta de Gobierno de la Ciudad de Madrid). The Plenary of the Ayuntamiento is the body of political representation of the citizens in the municipal government. Its 57 members are elected for a 4-year mandate.
