Laverne & Shirley is an American television sitcom that ran for eight seasons on ABC from January 27, 1976, to May 10, 1983. A spin-off of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley stars Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as Laverne DeFazio and Shirley Feeney, two friends and roommates who work as bottle-cappers in the fictitious Shotz Brewery in late 1950s to early 1960s Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Laverne and Shirley and their friends all move from Milwaukee to Burbank, California.The ladies take jobs as gift wrappers at a department store; Frank and Edna manage a Texas BBQ restaurant called Cowboy Bill's, Carmine delivers singing telegrams and seeks work as an actor, and Lenny and Squiggy start a talent agency called Squignowski Talent Agency.
Despite this, the show is still titled Laverne & Shirley. Lenny (Michael McKean) was also demoted from the main cast as McKean took time off to film This Is Spinal Tap; he would remain a recurring character, appearing in five episodes. The changes left Laverne as the main lead, and the only character to appear in every episode of season 8.
