Major General (Bengali: মেজর জেনারেল, romanized: Mējar jēnārēl) is a senior rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the third-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of major general. It is also considered a 2 star rank.
It is the fourth-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of Brigadier. It is the truncated general rank and flag officer of the army.
They consist of the three uniformed military services: the Bangladesh Army, the Bangladesh Navy, and the Bangladesh Air Force. The Armed Forces are under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence of the Government of Bangladesh, and are directly administered by the Armed Forces Division of the Prime Minister's Office. [5]
