South Swindon, formerly Central Swindon South, [2] is a civil parish in the town of Swindon, in the ceremonial county of Wiltshire, England.The parish covers the southern part of the central area of the town, including the Old Town area, and extends south to take in Wichelstowe and Coate Water.
Swindon is a railway town, and until the latter part of the 20th century the related works were the primary employer. [5] Today, Swindon is the home of a number of large companies: examples specific to South Swindon include Intel's European headquarters, [6] Nationwide's headquarters [7] and Zurich Financial Services' UK headquarters.
South Swindon parish was created with the official name of Central Swindon South, [1] but the parish council used the name and branding "South Swindon" from its creation. [22] [23] In October 2023, Swindon Borough Council consented to formally change the name to South Swindon.
