It's been great...paired with a Shimano Curado 70, EXTREMELY light and plenty sensitive...been doing a lot of bank fishing, lots of trees and obstacles, so have been favoring my shorter 6' IMX-Pro which I love, but any time the longer rod makes sense, I choose the Expride. As another user said, excellent T-Rig rod, great feel for the bottom.
the letter following the reel size indicates the reel's generation. this progresses in alphabetical order, starting with nothing (which is usually assumed to be the 'A' model), followed by the 'B' model and so on. for example, the first-generation curado was the CU-200. the next generation was the CU-200B. now, here's where it gets tricky: shimano skips certain letters for superstitious and/or ...
I just got the Zodias 6'9" ML rated 4-8lb line, 1/8-7/16 lures. I have been fishing with it two times, and have caught about 20 bass so far. This is the first Shimano rod I have used, so I'm not used to the ratings they use. I was expecting the rod to be less stiff than it is. It's an incredible ...
Shimano's BFS reels that have FTB mag brakes like your reel will not accept spools from standard SVS Infinity braked reels. The arbor size is fixed on your spool due to the mag brake, so there's no way to get more line cap.
I own 3 Shimano casting reels, a Citica 201D, a Curado 101D, and a Cruixis 201. The gods honest truth.....the Cruxis is pretty over priced and I don't even use it, I keep it in the house as a backup. Shimano has got to be kidding..$90 MSRP for a reel with a plastic drag star, and plastic spool tension knob.
Warranty is last thing I’m worry about, this is shimano Curado class not cheap class reels of course there are lemons but chances are slim to none. About Japanese class bearing (black/dark rim compare to regular stainless steel bearing, I think all 5 bearing are (not sure about x-ship and main shaft but pinion support is).
I've noticed there has yet to be a discussion about the new Shimano Vanford 2024. If any of the shimano heads out there have an opinion on the upgrades that have been made to this new version, please share. Additionally, what use cases would you reccomend this reel for and in what size/gear ratio.
One of those thing is saying that after using my Pflueger Supreme for the last few months that in order to get a reel on equal ground in the Shimano line up you would have to get a Stradic, the Saros is a good performer but the 2500 is more than 2 ounces heavier than the 30 size Pflueger.
Shimano reels are superior to the other reel brand you mentioned. Hook into a powerful fish that can peel over 100 feet of line in less than a couple seconds and you will understand why so many people fish with Shimano reels. Penn and Daiwa also make great reels.
I'm a Daiwa user myself, but I used to own a few Shimano Bantam Curados. I believe the Daiwa reels that have Magforce braking are more user friendly and more difficult to backlash. I believe Shimano reels cast a tad bit farther. Ease of use versus a bit more performance, in my opinion. You cannot go wrong with either. Pick your poison.
