  2. Abiogenesis - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis

There is an enormous number of possible arrangements of lipid bilayer membranes, and those with the best reproductive characteristics would have converged toward a hypercycle reaction, [145] [146] a positive feedback composed of two mutual catalysts represented by a membrane site and a specific compound trapped in the vesicle.

  3. History of research into the origin of life - Wikipedia

Antonie van Leeuwenhoek. Traditional religion attributed the origin of life to deities who created the natural world. Spontaneous generation, the first naturalistic theory of abiogenesis, goes back to Aristotle and ancient Greek philosophy, and continued to have support in Western scholarship until the 19th century. [15]

  4. Alternative abiogenesis scenarios - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternative_abiogenesis...

A scenario is a set of related concepts pertinent to the origin of life (abiogenesis), such as the iron-sulfur world. Many alternative abiogenesis scenarios have been proposed by scientists in a variety of fields from the 1950s onwards in an attempt to explain how the complex mechanisms of life could have come into existence. These include ...

  5. Evolution of cells - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_cells

Both of these options require the presence of massive amounts of chemicals and organic material in order to form cells. A large gathering of organic molecules most likely came from what scientists now call the prebiotic soup. The prebiotic soup refers to the collection of every organic compound that appeared on Earth after it was formed.

  6. Data collection - Wikipedia

  7. Error threshold (evolution) - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Error_threshold_(evolution)

It can be seen that, for example, one third of the mutations of the [001] molecules will produce [000] molecules, while the other two thirds will produce the class 2 molecules [011] and [101]. We can now write the expression for the child populations n i ′ {\displaystyle n'_{i}} of class i in terms of the parent populations n j {\displaystyle ...

  8. Talk:Abiogenesis/Archive 4 - Wikipedia

Being published in Proc. R. Soc. is certainly good, but Proc. R. Soc. publishes lots of abiogenesis research and I'd be looking for a reason to favor this paper over all the rest. If most of the cites to a paper are coming from fringe and creationist sources, that's a good indication that the paper doesn't belong here.

  9. Artificial life - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_life

It involves research such as the creation of synthetic DNA. The term "wet" is an extension of the term "wetware". Efforts toward "wet" artificial life focus on engineering live minimal cells from living bacteria Mycoplasma laboratorium and in building non-living biochemical cell-like systems from scratch.
