By that time a good chunk of the folks who are qualified for military flight programs have somewhat established themselves in a career and life in general, making the choice to join the military for ~10 years a more challenging choice for them. Even though the age limit wasn't too high when I went through very few folks had any significant gap ...

1 minute ago. #1. Hopefully this question hasn't already been answered and I missed it as I was just searching and reviewing this site, but here it goes. Does anyone know about the limitations / acceptances for a waiver on the maximum age requirement for SNA? I'm 37 years old, 20/15 eyesight, physical fit. I have been interested in the military ...

Just be aware that there is also an age limit to enter most federal law enforcement, 37 for most, I think it was to do with making sure you get the 20 years needed by law before you hit mandatory retirement age at 57. I think that can be waived in some cases if you are transitioning from military service but I do not know the full details, I ...

No military/government intel experience. Many years working difficult legal/commercial issues on the ground in Latin America, Europe, Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa for US businesses operating in those areas, but I get that does not directly translate and that I would be starting from scratch in terms of military intel experience.

The Commodore at TW-5 at the time viewed Advanced attrites as a failure - meaning either the SNA did not receive candid feedback in Primary/Intermediates or in the HT's we we didn't intervene early enough to put more structure or manage his/her flow through curriculum.

Jun 7, 2015. #8. NavyOffRec said: It is commission by age 27 but if prior service can get a month for month waiver up to the age of 29 (commissioned by) so he is correct, you are too old for SNA, you are ok for NFO.

You are too old. At one time the limit for pilot was 27 with up to 4 years waiverable. So the max was 31 by commissioning. I'm pretty sure the limit now is 27 (waived to 29). I don't know what the limit is for NFO or other branches. I'm also pretty sure the limit for URL is 35 but don't take my word for it. Try doing a search for age waiver.

I can't stand that attitude. I understand it, but it is wrong IMHO. Flight school, no matter the stage, is still a filter for the fleet. Can't stand it when students show up to the FRS, or worse a fleet squadron, unprepared and should have been attrited in advanced. But instead, we pass the...

New Member. Aug 2, 2024. #1. It seems older trainees do not take to flying as readily as younger counterparts, possibly due to inhibitions, families, maturity etc. Also, graduate degrees seem to confer a marginal advantage in TPS selection. Not seen much on "PHD's", specifically. The consensus advice seems to be, essentially, "don't delay".
