Car owners all over the Internet confirm (and lament) the change. However, others wonder whether there’s really much difference: Both Interstate and the late Kirkland batteries are made by Johnson Controls. meanjoe75fan April 12, 2016, 11:46pm 3. Yes, “Kirkland” is Costco’s “house” brand label.
Valvoline (JCI) batteries are manufactured in the US and Mexico, nothing in common. PvtPublic August 30, 2022, 9:46am 12. TheWonderful90s: Higher CCA means that there are more electrodes in the battery, and that those electrodes are more fragile. The battery will be more easily harmed by over discharging.
db4690 February 19, 2014, 7:47am 11. The aftermarket AC Delco batteries with the blue label (over the counter) are absolute crap, in my opinion. The factory AC Delco batteries with the gray label (the ones that are in the truck when you buy it new) tend to last 7 years in Southern California.
Maintenance/Repairs. VDCdriver February 18, 2015, 7:45pm 1. Periodically, Consumer Reports will do an interim update of an earlier test, and they recently did that with their evaluation of car batteries. They reported the extremely poor performance of AutoZone’s most expensive batteries–the ones that use Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology.
Sometimes everstart (Walmart) batteries are top-rated, highly rated, or best buy. Other times they’re middle of the pack or even lower. For some reason, they don’t rate the exact Interstate batteries sold at Costo, only the ones sold elsewhere. I’ll go slightly off-topic now . . . A few years ago, I needed a group 49 battery . . . also ...

I usually buy the cheapest battery available because they last longer than the warranty period for the more expensive batteries. 1 Like. It_s-Me March 27, 2019, 12:41pm 4.
Whitey June 12, 2013, 10:17pm 2. That battery you just replaced must be at least a decade old, because I noticed prices going up on car batteries back in 2003. Heck, even a small lead-acid motorcycle battery costs $70-80 now. bing June 12, 2013, 11:00pm 3. Even Walmart was $70 about five years ago.
Many Manufactures require dealers to use the Midtronics GR8 to test batteries. This machine uses a combination of charge, load and conductance tests to check the battery. The Midtronics GR8 is being phased out, replaced by more modern equipment, the Midtronics DCA-8000. tcmichnorth April 15, 2020, 9:23am 19.
The N or C is a performance parameter. 75 is the group number which defines the physical size of the battery. In your case the N means a reserve capacity of 95 amps at 90 minutes discharge. The C battery you have installed is rated at 25 amps at 90 minutes reserve. So the battery installed has less reserve power than the one specified for the car.
L/A batteries self-discharge at a rate determined by temperature and battery condition. When kept cool, below 50 degrees, the rate is about 5 or 6% a month. 90 degrees and above, the rate climbs to 15 or 20 % a month. So unless the stored battery is maintained by charging (choose your own method) it will slowly die.
