Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (Abbreviation: HCMUTE, Vietnamese: Trường Đại học Sư phạm Kỹ thuật Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) is a public university in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is currently regarded as one of the top technical universities in Vietnam.
The institute was renamed National Academy of Technology in 1972. 2 years later, it became one with Thủ Đức Polytechnic University. On October 27, 1976, Prime Minister Pham Van Dong signed Decision No. 426/TTg to make it Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. In 1996, the university joined the Vietnam National University system.
Following internal reforms in 1996, the Faculty of Science became the University of Natural Sciences, one of five affiliated universities under VNUHCM. In 2007, it was renamed the University of Science , marking a new phase in its role within the VNUHCM system and focusing on public education and research.
