Wichita is the principal city of both the Wichita Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Wichita-Winfield Combined Statistical Area (CSA). The Italianate City Hall was built in 1885. It was Collinsville's first dedicated city hall; prior to its completion, government meetings were held at the mayor's house. The new city hall, along with several other public works projects, created a large debt which contributed to mayor Charles L. Oatman's defeat in the next election.
Collinsville is approximately 20 mi north of Tulsa, and lies within a triangle formed by the Caney River, Verdigris River and Bird Creek. [8] According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.0 square miles (15.5 km 2), of which 5.9 square miles (15.4 km 2) is land and 0.1 square mile (0.2 km 2) (1.17%) is water.
Valley Center was incorporated on September 29, 1885, [5] and was named for its location in the valley of the Arkansas River. [6]The former Valley Center rail depot for Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company and the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway Company was moved to south of Hillsboro, Kansas at the southeast corner of Indigo Rd & 140th St, and is currently a private residence.
