Phi Mu Delta is an American fraternity founded on March 1, 1918, at the University of Connecticut, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont. [1] The fraternity absorbed Delta Alpha Pi in 1935.
This is the list of chapters and colonies of Phi Mu, a National Panhellenic Conference sorority, in order of formation. In some cases a naming convention appears to utilize a first letter indicative of a state or region, thus many Pennsylvania chapter designations begin with "Phi"; however there are some exceptions to this rule where a name was derived from a predecessor local.
These three drew lots to determine which would be named the Alpha chapter; the Greek letter Nu was a reference to their New England region. [1] Phi Mu Delta became a junior member of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) in 1923, and then a senior member in 1930. It remains a member of the NIC today.
Phi Mu is one of the two "Macon Magnolias," a term used to celebrate the bonds it shares with Alpha Delta Pi as sororities founded on that same campus. [1] [2] [3] Today, Phi Mu has 136 active collegiate chapters, 137 active alumnae chapters, and more than 187,000 initiated sisters. In its 170-year history, Phi Mu has chartered over 228 chapters.

Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (ΦΜΑ) is an American collegiate social fraternity for men with a special interest in music. [1] The chapter is the basic unit of organization in Phi Mu Alpha. The designation of chapter has been given to at least three different kinds of organization over the history of the fraternity: collegiate, alumni, and professional.
